I’ve just found out where I’m moving to. What do I need to do next?
Within two days being notified of your initiation for tax services,
we’ll contact you to schedule an introductory meeting with the Deloitte team from each
country. We act fast because you might need to apply for tax ID numbers or open bank accounts,
and some of these items are time sensitive. At the meeting you’ll get a better understanding of
the tax implications, can ask any questions and get candid answers. It’s a lot to take in so
we’ll also provide you with useful materials to refer to afterwards.
What’s included in your tax services?
We’ll prepare your income tax returns in both countries, including
local income tax filings. Depending on your location, we also help you with foreign bank
forms, extensions, and certain other requirements. We’ll discuss this with you at your
introductory meeting. After delivering your tax returns, you have the option to meet with us to
discuss them. That’s when we can walk you through any filing instructions you need to know
about.
What support is provided to my spouse or partner?
Tax services for your spouse are included, as are partners who are part of your relocation
contract. They’re as much a part of the Deloitte process as you are, starting with our
introductory meeting.
Will the Deloitte team be coordinated in both countries?
Yes. You’ll only need to provide your information once. You will meet the Deloitte team from
both countries during the introductory meeting, who then work together throughout the
process.
*The only exception is when your annual filings have separate reporting periods, for example
a fiscal year and a calendar year.
How many years will I be provided with tax support?
If you are a new hire, we will provide tax services in the year you move. If you are a
transfer, we can provide tax services in the year you move and each additional year you have
company income sourced in multiple jurisdictions.
Will Deloitte assign me a point of contact?
Yes, a member of the Deloitte team will respond to your questions directly, or you can email
us with any inquiries.
